About the project
TPS was engaged by Aegis Health to deliver the fitout of its first Day Surgery Unit, transforming an empty shell into a fully operational, LARU-approved day hospital. Completed over an 11-month program, the project provides Aegis Health with a state-of-the-art surgical facility designed to support advanced clinical services and exceptional patient care.
The fitout included the construction of four fully equipped operating theatres, a patient recovery area, central nurses’ station, Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD), patient waiting area, staff end-of-trip facilities, and breakout amenities. Specialist building services and healthcare infrastructure were integrated throughout the facility to meet the stringent requirements of a licensed day hospital.
The project required extensive planning and coordination to minimise disruption to surrounding occupants and maintain building operations throughout construction. A significant component of the works involved major structural modifications to construct three new lift shafts, enabling the installation of dedicated lift access to support the operational requirements of the facility.
Close collaboration between TPS, Aegis Health, consultants, specialist subcontractors, and regulatory authorities ensured the project progressed safely and efficiently. Detailed programming, proactive stakeholder engagement, and rigorous quality management enabled the facility to be delivered on schedule while meeting all licensing and compliance requirements.
